We hear all the time about problems getting to Florence. Well, we also have a problem getting through Florence. And the problem is not just for our citizens, but for economic development as well.
When site locators look at an area, accessibility and ease of transportation are a major consideration in whether they choose our city or some other. Ask any trucker what it’s like to pull a load through Florence, and you’ll get an earful. In business, time is money. And with the high price of gasoline these days, no one wants to sit in traffic all day — least of all a businessman.
In a Carrier administration, the city engineering department will solve this problem. When necessary, the city department will work with the Alabama Department of Transportation on state roads in city limits.
